SC clears way for holding viva of 46,199 primary teacher candidates

Shawdesh Desk:

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the way for holding viva voce of 46,199 selected candidates for the post of assistant primary school teachers in Dhaka and Chattogram division.

Chamber judge Justice M Enayetur Rahim also directed the Directorate of Primary Education not to publish results of the voce until the Criminal Investigation Department submits probe report over allegation of the recruitment test with leaked questions papers.

The chamber judge issued the directive after modifying the High Court order that on May 29 stayed the process of recruiting the assistant teachers on the basis of the written test in which questions papers were leaked.

The primary and mass education ministry and the Directorate of Primary Education filed an appeal challenging the High Court order.

The High Court stayed the process of recruiting assistant teachers to government primary schools in 21 districts of Dhaka and Chattogram divisions over an allegation that a total of 46,199 candidates were selected in the recruitment test with leaked question papers.

The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon granted the stay for six months after hearing a writ petition filed by Jewel Ratan Das and 14 others disqualified candidates challenging the legality of recruiting the candidates as teachers, who were selected in a test with leaked question papers.
